Welcome. I'm glad that you are here.
“Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It’s a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity.”
-Pema Chodron
About Brittany
Welcome to my page! I'm so glad you are taking the first steps to taking care of yourself and your mental health. I truly believe that mental health care is for everyone and that we all exist on a spectrum of mental and emotional wellbeing, which ebbs and flows depending on what we are currently experiencing in our lives. I'm here to assure you that seeking therapy is a normal, healthy and courageous thing.
I am a Registered Social Worker who practices counselling and psychotherapy in Hamilton, ON. I have been in the field for over 12 years and practicing counselling and psychotherapy specifically for about 6 years. My road to being a Masters level clinician was a long one that has gifted me with extensive experience with various populations and issues. I very much come from a "social work" perspective to therapy and understand that an individual's experience is shaped by their social environment as well as their personal thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
I have experience working with children, youth, and adults and have worked with individuals from all walks of life. I am currently seeing mostly youth and adults and I do not provide play or art based therapy at this time. I have a special interest in supporting Indigenous people. I have Indigenous ancestry (Haudenosaunee, Cayuga) and have dedicated much of my career to working with Indigenous communities. I am happy to be a NIHB provider for Indigenous clients with status. Please see my benefits and rates page for more information on how your services can be covered.
Thanks for dropping by and I wish you the very best in finding a therapist best suited for you.
